Planning Office Partitions: Frosted, Clear or Drywall?

2 November 2026 · 1 min read

The right partition depends on what each room is for. A simple way to think about privacy and light.

Partitioning is one of the quickest ways to change how an office works, and one of the easiest to get wrong. The decision usually comes down to how much privacy each room really needs.

Clear glass

Best for meeting rooms and team leaders who need to stay visible. Daylight travels straight through, and the floor still feels like one space.

Frosted glass

The popular middle ground. You keep the light but lose the sightlines, which suits offices, consulting rooms and anywhere with confidential screens.

Drywall

Use it where you need a solid wall: storerooms, server rooms, or anywhere you want to hang shelving. Many good layouts combine drywall at the back of a room with aluminium and glass facing the corridor.

Think about the whole floor

Before you fix a layout, walk the route a visitor takes from reception. A coordinated fit-out, where the partitions, doors and counter are planned together, always reads better than rooms added one at a time.

See how this comes together in our Dokuma Offices and Mt Pleasant projects.
